INTRODUCTION

Structured training in spectral CT, from fundamentals to clinical application

Organized by Spectral CT Society, this course has been created as a high-level educational experience for professionals seeking a deeper, clearer, and more practical understanding of spectral CT and dual-energy CT.

The programme combines core foundations with advanced clinical application across major subspecialties, providing a structured pathway from essential concepts to real-world implementation.

Delivered fully online and in real time, the course enables participants to learn from their own location while accessing an advanced individual workstation for hands-on case review and guided interactive learning.

Why this course

Spectral CT is reshaping modern computed tomography by enabling material differentiation, quantitative analysis, and diagnostic information beyond conventional attenuation values. Despite its growing clinical relevance, many professionals still lack access to structured, practical, and academically focused training in this field. This course was developed to address that need through a format that is:

Practical and case-based

Focused on real clinical application

Academically driven and internationally oriented

Designed for active learning rather than passive attendance

It is conceived as a premium educational programme for professionals who want to build real confidence in spectral CT interpretation, workflow integration, and clinical use.

FORMAT: A true hands-on online learning experience.

This course is delivered entirely online and live, allowing participants to join from home while benefiting from a highly interactive educational environment. A central feature of the programme is access to an advanced individual workstation, enabling each participant to review cases independently during the course. This provides a genuine hands-on experience rather than a conventional lecture-based webinar format.

The educational model combines:

  • Short focused lectures.
  • Live case reading.
  • Expert discussion
  • Rapid-fire quizzes
  • Interactive clinical interpretation
  • Final assessment

Theory (Short focused lectures & expert discussion)

Hands-on (Live case reading & interactive interpretation)

This is not a passive webinar series. It is a structured live hands-on training experience designed for practical clinical learning in spectral CT.

Who should attend

Primary Audience

This course is primarily designed for radiologists, including general radiologists, subspecialty radiologists, fellows, and consultants seeking practical expertise in spectral CT.

Other professionals

It may also be relevant to:

  • Physicians from other specialties with an interest in advanced CT imaging
  • Radiographers and CT technologists
  • Advanced imaging professionals
  • Selected industry professionals involved in spectral CT workflows, implementation, technology, or clinical support.

While the academic design is radiology-led, the course may also be valuable for other professionals involved in the use, interpretation, optimization, or implementation of spectral CT in clinical practice.

AN ACADEMICALLY INDEPENDENT AND CLINICALLY FOCUSED PROGRAMME

The course is organized by Spectral CT Society as an independent educational initiative with an international outlook and a strong clinical focus. Its academic design is based on:

        • structured foundations

        • practical case-based learning

        • clinically relevant applications

        • plural faculty perspectives

        • real-world implementation

        • scientific rigor without dominant commercial branding

This approach supports both educational quality and the academic credibility required for certification and CPD accreditation.

PRE-COURSE PREPARATION

To maximize the value of the 3 live course days, participants will receive access to structured pre-course material in advance. This preparation includes:

Short specialty-based pre-course videos

A platform orientation video

A pre-test

An initial practical exercise

The pre-course component is designed to establish a common foundation and allow the live sessions to focus on interpretation, application, decision-making, and discussion.

Programme overview

The course is organized over 3 live online days and progresses from technical foundations to advanced clinical application.

Day 1: Foundations, Thoracic and Cardiovascular Spectral CT

The first day introduces the conceptual and technical foundations of spectral CT, including the main spectral CT approaches and an introductory future perspective on photon counting CT. It then moves into thoracic oncology, urgent thoracic pathology, and cardiovascular applications, with a strong emphasis on case reading and clinical discussion.

Day 2: Abdominal Spectral CT and Protocol Optimization

The second day focuses on abdominal imaging, including hepatobiliary applications, pancreas, urinary tract, and protocol optimization. Participants will also explore practical aspects such as contrast injection, dose reduction, radiation optimization, and implementation strategies.

Day 3: Emergency, Neuro, MSK, and Advanced Clinical Application

The final day covers abdominal urgent and vascular pathology, neuro imaging, selected head and neck applications, musculoskeletal imaging, difficult cases, reporting tips, and implementation pitfalls. The programme concludes with a final assessment and closing session.
